Re: Con Photos

Chris Ambidge, 9 Jul 2003

will get you to my photo albums on line. Go to the Ithaca collection and check out the albums therein.

now the albums will appear in alphabetical order, but since for some unexplained arbitrariness, Gwendolyn our WONDERFUL host didn't have us going places in alphabetical order, the albums will be out of chronology.

Quick chronology:

Thursday 3 July evening - beer and pizza at Gwendolyn's - no digital cameras were present to record Toby meeting his Summer Love, Nicholas; nor snapping at the heels of Ken or Lisa, or even Ken getting fallen-down tipsy that evening; so in the absence of pictorial proof, everyone has Plausible Deniability.

Friday 4 July

- breakfast at Ithaca Bakery - some photos were taken, but not by me

- visit to the Corning Museum of Glass (in - SURPRISE! - Corning NY, 45 min away) - photos were taken, postcards were purchased, including Kevin attempting to be Cinderella

- evening meal at Moosewood - several photos taken before and during the meal, including Jason P-B learning to go up in the air with the Junior Birdmen, one of my fave pix of Cobra Woman + the Mongoose, and AnnB impersonating a russian nested doll, with a Kanga and a Roo (and a KenRu)

Saturday 5 July

- Ithaca Farmer's Market - photos were taken, but not by forgetful moi, who left camera in rm 257. You remember AnnB saying she has a button "I'm quite prepared to sit on you"? She does, and she did. Anyone with photos of her squishing me, please send on

- afternoon wandering around the Commons (State Street closed to vehicular traffic) - Scott's photos are of this part of the .con, I didn't get any myself.

- visits to various restaurants - many to a Tapas retaurant; Ken, Mara, Marty and I went to Madelines

- party at Gwendolyn's - many photos of this event. I've posted elsewhere about AnnB NOT going into labour, and various people colouring their toenails at this event. Ned poked his camera into the leg of my shorts, so I retaliated.

Sunday 6 July

- brunch cruise on Lake Cayuga aboard MV Manhattan. We had bubble- blowing equipment, I was in panda drag, and many photos were taken. We were well fed. The "class photo" was taken by the upper-deck bartender; that's Kevin in the front row, visible through the plexiglass front of the bar. I discovered that my camera smudged the panda stuff, so I didn't get many pix (and only one of me), so I'd particularly appreciate pix of this event from others present. I did get a picture of Gwendolyn's faaabulous purse (#2), but some- how missed getting her killer shoes.

- afternoon hike to Taughannock Falls, about 7 miles out of town. Several pictures of those of us who stayed on the valley floor - a number of hardy souls climbed up to the canyon rim and walked around, but I've seen no pix from up there. Ken and Robert decided to wade back down the (very shallow, flat-rock-bed) river from the falls, and very fetching they looked with shooz tied about their necks.

- evening meal at Madeline's -- the four of us who had gone the night before clearly raved enough about the food that we all went back for a return engagement.

Monday 7 July

- breakfast together at Hal's Deli. another class photo was taken, and you might even find the loinfruit. Leroy was also there, but off getting Tshirts printed at photo time. Anyone who wants to photo-shop him in,please do. This is also teh event at which Nedly was photographed Showing Hooter, and as soon as Kevin sends it to me [hint hint] that incriminating evidence will also be posted for the whole world to see.

You are all welcome to copy these photos of mine for your own use and amusement and albums. The yahoo site will give you a small version, if you particlarly like one or more, send PVT EMAIL & I'll send full-size copies.

and again, I'd love to see pictures that other people took.

Ailuropoda melanoleuca torontonensis thanking Gwendolyn again for an exceptionally fun long weekend
