About 5:00 pm on August 13, 1992, Rob's friend Chuck Fisher sent this email to a list of people who were all hoping for a turnaround in Rob's condition:
I'm very sad to report that Rob passed away today at approximately
2:40 pm PDT. His sister, Claire, his therapist, Paul Lewis, and I
were present when Rob died. I'm glad to say that Rob passed
peacefully and that we were there holding his hands talking to him
at the end.
Thanks to all of you who showed your love for Rob by visiting him
and having him in your thoughts. I know it meant a great deal to
him to know that his friends cared about him.
Rob will be taken back to New York and be buried next to his
father. We are planning on having a memorial service at Rob's
house in Concord on Saturday, September 26. Details will follow.

soc.motss before making a posting there about his death.
