Sigh. I wish I had known Rob better.
Rob was one of the first motss-folk whose name I recognized. It was easy since he was the bear that owned the horse... But I soon began to look forward to his postings, and I enjoyed exchanging e-mail with him.
He sent me a bearthday card once (that's what he called it). It happened to be a year where (1989) I was a little lonely, and due to an East ---> West USPS snag was the only card that arrived on the day of my birthday. Since we weren't all that close, it was both a wonderful surprise as well as an indication of what sort of person Rob was. I'm sure that I still have that card in NM...
We only met once, one night I was in SF. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well and we didn't get to spend as much time getting to know each other non-electronically as either of us would have liked.
Thanks, Rob. You will be missed.
